About

Stuart graduated with honours from the University of Adelaide with a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechatronics) in 2006 and has currently submitted his PhD in Engineering at the same institiuation. In 2011, Stuart began is academic position in the School of Computer Science, Engineering and Mathematics at the University of Flinders.

His research involves the investigation of

    - new techniques for detecting damage (such as cracks and delamination) in
      plate- and shell-like structures

    - a new non-contact technique for measuring strain using a 3D scanning laser          Doppler vibrometer

His other research interests include

    - Experimental Strain Measurement
    - Non-destructive Evaluation
    - Scanning Laser Doppler Vibrometry
    - Structural Health Monitoring
    - Fracture Mechanics
    - Composite Mechanics

Some of the projects he is currently involved in include
    - Measuring Deflection in Aerospace Structures (sponsored by the DSTO),
    - research work for the Australia Submarine Corporation, and
    - the development and investigation of a slurry spray based method for thermal
barrier coatings (sponsored through the Asian Office of Aerospace Research
      and Development).
